Consulting Confessional: Engagement is not the same as Commitment

We had the plan, the governance, the stakeholder map. Every box ticked. What we missed was simpler and more damaging.. the middle managers who would actually deliver the change had never truly bought in. They nodded in workshops and said nothing in steering groups. Six months in, the programme stalled - not because the design was wrong, but because the people responsible for embedding it quietly resisted it at every turn.

The lesson? Visible engagement is not the same as genuine commitment. Always go deeper.
